Roatan interesting facts

Roatan is an island located in the caribbean between Utila and Guanaja islands. Roatan is the largest island and capital of the Bay Islands (Utila, Roatan, Guanaja & 65 cays and many banks situated 65 Kms (40 miles) away from Honduras mainland. The island consists of two municipalities: José Santos Guardiola in the east and Roatán. West of Coxen Hole are the settlements of Gravel Bay, Flowers Bay and Pensacola on the south coast, and Sandy Bay, West End and West Bay on the north coast. To the east of Coxen Hole are the settlements of Mount Pleasant, French Harbour, Parrot Tree, Jonesville and Oakridge on the south coast, and Punta Gorda on the north coast.

The easternmost quarter of the island is separated by a channel through the mangroves that is 15 metres wide on average and it is the only one in the island. This place is called Helene, or Santa Elena in Spanish. Satellite islands at the eastern end are Morat, Barbareta, and Pigeon Cay. Further west between French Harbour and Coxen Hole are several cays, including Stamp Cay and Barefoot Cay.

Roatan has two ports for cruises, Mahogany bay and Town Center, initially the strongest economy was the fishing industry, but today the industry that predominates is tourism. We provide information on the two cruise ships terminals. Please follow the Pick–Up Instructions below.

Mahogany Bay Roatan

Owned by Carnival Cruise Lines, is located in Dixon Cove community, officially opened in 2010. You will find jewelers stores, duty free, restaurants, bar, souvenir shops.

Pick–up Instruction: In order to pick you up, you will walk about 2 to 5 minutes approx. out of the terminal to see our staff with the "2KS Adventures Tours" sign.

Town Center Roatan

Was the first cruise ship port in Roatan, opened in late 2008, is located in Coxen Hole, the capital of Roatan. You got access to restaurants, bars, souvenirs, coffee shops, live cigar rolling, ATM.

Pick–up Instruction: Outside the cruise ship dock terminal, gate #7, across the street, look for our staff holding a "2KS Adventures Tours" sign.
